Christmas Tree Hunting

Tree hunting was an adventure.   My Momma and Mammaw with kids in tow headed over to Number 7 Road.  We would tromp around through the spoil banks of the old coal mines looking for the best shaped scrub pine.   Armed with an axe from the shed, they would take turns chopping it down.   Tie it to a curtain rod, add some drippy aluminum icicles, stick some foil under the bulb that won’t work and you have Christmas magic.
