Versatile Blogger Award

I have been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by J.G. Burdette at her blog Map Of Time, A Trip Into The Past.  Thank you!

Now as a receiver of this award I must thank the person who gave me this award, include a link to their blog, tell seven things about myself and nominate 15 other blogs. In turn those who are nominated are to do the same. That is if they wish to.

Seven things about me:

1. When I was in first grade my dress got caught and I fell off the side of the big slide. I hung there by the skirt of my dress. A man teacher got under me and a boy went up and unhooked me so I free falled for what seemed like forever. Mrs. McDaniel (Miss Goose) sewed my skirt back together and chewed me out the entire time about how young ladies put their skirts under their bottoms. It was very traumatic.

2.   I used to ride dirt bikes with my brothers and parents.  Old coal mine roads are good for some things.

3.  I absolutely am terrified of mice! I scream and jump on things. My heart pounds. I hate a mouse.

4.  The kids and I used to walk around in the woods when they were little, and gather things to make fairy gardens.   They had to be all natural.  My daughter and I are going to make one this year in a box on her screened back porch.

5.  I turned my back last week for a minute to plant a flower and my little blind dog Archie wandered off of the porch and into the road.  He was killed by a car just that fast.  He never left my side but this day he did.  I always had him on a leash or a cable but I let him sit on the porch with me without one.  I sure miss that little dog.

6.  I met my husband on a blind date.

7.  I am bound and determined to grow healthy tomato plants this year that actually produce some tomatoes.

My tastes are varied and my blogroll is pretty long, but here are fifteen of the many wonderful blogs I enjoy reading:

1. A Silver Voice From Ireland

2. All About Lemon

3. Artist at Exit 0 Riverblog

4. Back Road Journal

5.  Chicks with Ticks

6.  Childhood Relived

7.  Country Roads Photos

8.  Journey America

9.  Vector Charley

10.  Yoga Dog Blog

11.  This Positive Life

12.  Thomas Skinner:  My Struggles with PTSD

13.  The Simple Life of a Country Man’s Wife

14.  The Hillville

15.  Motley News

So thank you J. G. Burdette for reading my history blog and awarding me!

In Memory of Archie who made appearances in many of my blogs. He was a sweet little dog who only wanted love and gave love.

  1. Poor Archie! I’m so sorry. I can only imagine what it is like to loose your pet

    Oh and I’m a her 😉

  2. Congratulations on your Versatile Blogger Award! You most certainly do deserve it. And I am SO sorry about your dog. Dogs are my life and I know when I lose one of the two I have now, I will be a basket case. And one is partially blind, too. I’ve always been so careful with him as well. Someone left the side gate open on at my house once, and I didn’t know it. I put my two out in the back, and shortly I see a flash of white out front, and there he is trotting down the street. I freaked! he’s also deaf (born deaf and partially blind). I went out and he was so frightened he wasn’t sure who I was at first. Then I managed to get him in safe and sound, but my heart didn’t stop racing for hours after that.

Thanks so much for the nomination!!!

    • This was the second time in 6 years he had ever gotten free. I can tell you I freaked out both times. I think I knew the moment he got hit. A feeling just overwhelmed me of him and instantly I started looking around me for him. The person who hit him didn’t even stop or tell anyone. I don’t like people sometimes. He was sure part of my life.

  3. Rose…congrats on the blog award and I was happy to learn more about you. Thanks for including me on your list…it’s a honor in itself. I was saddened though…to hear about Archie. I know how beloved pets can get into one’s heart. I feel that way about our dog “Cory” who is named after the town of Corydon, Indiana which is her birthplace.

    • Archie was a sweet little thing. I did adopt a dog from the local pound within two weeks. His name is Lucky for obvious reasons 🙂 There are so many that need a home.

  4. Rose,
Looking back over some of your older posts, and found this one about Archie. What a sweetie. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope to be in Pike County shortly after the 4th. I’ll drop in to see you, if you let me. I’ll warn you, before my arrival! M.

    • You are always welcome! Let me when you are around and I’ll let you know my work schedule. You’ll know us by the huge wonderful screened in porch that my husband and brother in law just built. Perfect for visiting!
Archie was a sweet little thing. Thanks for your kind words. Now I have this live wire pound puppy Lucky
      🙂
